Staff Security & Compliance Engineer – Clearance Required

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Take responsibility for the security engineering and authorization strategy for a secure cloud data platform.

• Oversee Risk Management Framework and Authority to Operate initiatives.

• Convert security requirements into technical controls and actionable engineering tasks.

• Streamline compliance evidence, control validation, monitoring, and reporting wherever feasible.

• Embed security within infrastructure, software delivery pipelines, and platform operations.

• Collaborate with engineers to pinpoint risks, address findings, and enhance the platform’s security posture.

• Keep authorization documentation up to date and convey technical risks to government and program leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience.

• At least eight years of experience in security engineering, cloud security, DevSecOps, or federal authorization.

• Proven track record in leading DoD RMF and ATO efforts.

• Strong understanding of NIST security controls and federal cybersecurity regulations.

• Experience in securing cloud-hosted or enterprise-level platforms.

• Familiarity with automation, scripting, infrastructure as code, or security tools to implement and verify controls.

• Capability to work closely with software, platform, and data engineers.

• Active Secret clearance is required.

• Experience supporting the U.S. Army.

• Proficiency with AWS or another secure government cloud environment.

• Knowledge of policy as code, automated evidence collection, and continuous authorization.

• Experience with container security, vulnerability management, identity management, logging, or cloud security tools.

• CISSP, Security+, or another pertinent cybersecurity certification.
