Staff Pharmacist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Review and validate prescriptions for legality, accuracy, completeness, and suitability.

• Confirm patient details, medication specifics, strength, dosage form, quantity, instructions, and labeling.

• Assess prescriptions for clinical issues, interactions, contraindications, duplications, inconsistencies, and patient safety concerns.

• Conduct the final pharmacist verification prior to product release.

• Identify, address, document, and escalate medication errors, discrepancies, and safety issues.

• Operate in compliance with federal and Texas laws, regulations, professional standards, SOPs, policies, and quality systems.

• Assist with pharmacy inspections, audits, accreditation, and regulatory preparedness.

• Maintain accurate, timely, complete, and audit-ready pharmacy and verification documentation.

• Safeguard patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and privacy regulations.

• Execute verification and clinical review using approved pharmacy management systems and secure technology platforms.

• Collaborate with onsite technicians, fulfillment staff, pharmacists, pharmacy leadership, and remote team members.

• Provide professional guidance and support to pharmacy technicians and interns within legal boundaries.

• Coordinate with the VP of Pharmacy and operations leaders regarding volume, staffing, workflow challenges, and resources.

• Engage in quality improvement, medication-error prevention, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, retraining, CAPA, and Plan of Correction activities.

• Communicate effectively with patients, prescribers, pharmacy staff, and authorized individuals.

• Address prescription clarification inquiries and clinical questions.

• Collaborate on workflow enhancement, process development, operational scaling, and organizational growth initiatives.

• Participate in virtual meetings, training sessions, quality initiatives, and operational projects.

• Maintain a secure workspace, reliable connectivity, and responsiveness during scheduled shifts.

• Adhere to remote work, cybersecurity, data protection, and confidentiality policies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active pharmacist license in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.

• Eligible to practice pharmacy in the State of Texas.

• Previous pharmacist experience; 2+ years preferred.

• Strong understanding of Texas pharmacy laws and regulations.

• Comprehensive knowledge of applicable USP standards.

• Familiarity with HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.

• Understanding of prescription verification and medication safety protocols.

• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.

• Capability to exercise sound professional judgment independently in a remote setting.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with remote and onsite pharmacy teams.

• Proficiency in using pharmacy management systems, electronic health records, secure communication platforms, and other technologies necessary for remote pharmacy operations.

• Reliable internet connection and a private, secure workspace suitable for handling protected health information (PHI).

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to company security and privacy protocols.

• Flexibility to meet scheduling requirements, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Experience in high-volume prescription fulfillment or pharmacy operations preferred.

• Experience in a compounding pharmacy environment preferred.

• Experience with sterile and/or nonsterile compounding preferred.

• Experience with telepharmacy, remote verification, or technology-enabled pharmacy operations preferred.

• Familiarity with pharmacy quality assurance programs, audits, inspections, or accreditation processes preferred.

• Experience in process improvement, CAPA, root-cause analysis, or medication-error prevention initiatives preferred.

• Experience in training or supervising pharmacy technicians and interns preferred.

• Proven ability to work effectively in remote or distributed healthcare teams preferred.

• Reliable personal laptop or desktop computer required before the start date.

• Quality headset or microphone for video calls and meetings required before the start date.

• High-speed internet connection required before the start date.
