Staff Machine Learning Engineer – L4

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Develop foundational AI/ML capabilities to create intelligent engagement experiences.

• Introduce new functionalities within a rapidly evolving, widely adopted product.

• Transform vague concepts into structured experiments and implement them within weeks.

• Conduct research on cutting-edge LLM orchestration, retrieval strategies, and data-driven personalization.

• Construct ML systems that operate at the scale of Twilio.

• Acquire new technical skills and knowledge in a dynamic, high-delivery environment.

• Integrate the latest AI development stacks to emphasize core differentiation.

• Lead research initiatives focused on contextual intelligence and large-scale ML challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of practical ML/AI experience with a proven record of managing technically ambitious systems from start to finish.

• Comfortable working in a 0-to-1 environment with ambiguous requirements and a strong bias towards action.

• Proficient in the Python programming language.

• Experience in building cloud-based services on platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Familiarity with high-volume data, streaming or real-time inference paths, and various data storage solutions.

• Strong understanding of statistical machine learning algorithms, transformer models, and LLMs.

• Ability to elevate the technical standard through mentorship, design review, and adherence to standards without formal management authority.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.

• Preferred: experience in developing autonomous agents for multi-turn conversations and long-term context.

• Preferred: expertise in predictive modeling of user behavior, experiment design, and causal or counterfactual methods.

• Preferred: experience working within a globally distributed team.
