Staff GCP Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Deliver technical assistance for applications and services built on GCP, ensuring optimal performance and availability.

• Streamline repetitive operations through automation using Python, Bash, and Infrastructure as Code tools.

• Enforce cloud security best practices, which encompass IAM, data encryption, and network security protocols.

• Oversee and manage virtual machines, containers, databases, and networking elements.

• Develop, implement, and sustain CI/CD pipelines utilizing Google Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or comparable tools.

• Configure and supervise monitoring and alerting systems with Google Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, or Grafana.

• Engage in incident response and conduct post-mortem analysis.

• Utilize SRE methodologies involving SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets.

• Construct and uphold GCP infrastructure that facilitates secure development, deployment, and scaling of AI agents, plugins/tools, and knowledge-driven applications.

• Support integrations with LLMs, vector/knowledge repositories, APIs, and enterprise plugins.

• Create reusable patterns for AI development, security measures, observability, and best practices.

• Work collaboratively with development, QA, and operations teams on application deployment and operational tasks.

• Produce and maintain documentation related to system architecture, processes, and procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, such as Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions.

• 3+ years of experience with SRE principles and practices, including monitoring, incident management, and performance enhancement.

• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD tools and practices, such as Google Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent.

• 3+ years of experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker.

• 3+ years of experience with scripting languages, including Python and Bash.

• 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Google Deployment Manager.

• 3+ years of experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Google Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities with a capacity to perform under pressure.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Familiarity with Vertex AI, Gemini, Agent Development Kit (ADK), AI Agents, MCP/Plugins, RAG, Vector Search, Cloud Run, and AI Security & Governance.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field.

• One year of professional work experience is required for each year of college degree not completed, in addition to the required years of experience.
