Staff Full Stack Engineer, Technical Chief of Staff

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Shopping's ongoing projects, future plans, technical dependencies, and business requirements.

• Proactively influence the organization by coordinating platform support, tools, access, and necessary approvals.

• Prepare and deliver updates on Shopping's progress and objectives to senior leadership at Capital One.

• Secure essential decisions, investments, and support required for the success of Shopping's initiatives.

• Navigate security, risk, compliance, procurement, and platform governance on behalf of Shopping.

• Act as an intermediary between Shopping and the central platform and infrastructure teams.

• Facilitate the orchestration of cross-team dependencies for significant cross-cutting projects.

• Represent Shopping's engineering team, articulating and justifying architectural and technical decisions to enterprise platform, security, and risk stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline.

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, cloud computing, and data architecture.

• Preferred: A Master's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.

• Preferred: Over 10 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, web technologies, distributed HPC and ML systems, cloud computing, and data architecture.

• Preferred: More than 10 years of professional coding experience in Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala.

• Preferred: At least 8 years of experience with databases and database management systems.

• Preferred: Over 10 years of professional experience throughout the complete system development lifecycle.

• Preferred: 5+ years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• Preferred: More than 10 years of experience with networking protocols and third-party distributed systems.

• Preferred: At least 5 years of experience mentoring senior engineers and fostering professional development within technical teams.

• Preferred: 2+ years of experience leading cross-domain architectural reviews and establishing coding and design standards.

• Expertise in the strategic use of agentic AI coding tools.
