This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Oversee both conceptual and detailed engineering design, execution, and implementation of complex electrical and controls projects.
• Create and evaluate cutting-edge control systems for manufacturing environments.
• Direct the selection, design, installation, and commissioning of control systems and automated equipment for capital projects.
• Identify opportunities in digital manufacturing and evaluate new technologies for enhancing performance and business value.
• Provide mentorship to peers on food industry processes, construction practices, standards, and regulations.
• Manage capital projects focused on electrical and controls as required.
• Supervise co-ops or interns, including their interviewing and selection, as necessary.
• Formulate manufacturing alternatives, electrical/controls solutions, schematics, and P&IDs.
• Implement and support digital automation, MES, IIoT, data analytics, and IT/OT integration.
• Specify, select, and assess equipment and suppliers.
• Estimate costs related to capital projects and process solutions.
• Develop construction scopes and bid packages.
• Coordinate and oversee the installation, checkout, and commissioning of equipment and systems.
• Provide electrical and controls support, troubleshooting, and optimization during startup phases.
• Train manufacturing staff on essential electrical and controls system operating parameters.
• Transition deliverables and documentation to Plant Operations and Maintenance.
• Lead initiatives for digital transformation and continuous improvement on the factory floor.
• Ensure that network infrastructure and machinery networks adhere to industrial control network guidelines and cybersecurity policies.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.
• Lead cross-functional teams and make crucial decisions under pressure.
• A minimum of 5+ years of experience in Food Processing, Confectionery, Pharmaceutical, or similar industries.
• Experience in electrical/controls engineering, design, and project management, including troubleshooting and process optimization.
• Proficient in the application and programming of PLCs/PACs, with preference for Rockwell and Siemens.
• Familiarity with motion control systems, preferably Rockwell and Siemens.
• Proficient in the application and configuration of HMI/SCADA systems, ideally FactoryTalk SE/ME and Ignition.
• Experience in developing, specifying, and installing 480 VAC, 120 VAC, and 24 VDC power systems.
• Familiarity with basic Ethernet network architectures and device configuration.
• Advanced knowledge of electrical/controls systems, sanitary design, construction practices, GMPs, food safety, and equipment suppliers.
• In-depth understanding of process automation and instrumentation.
• Proficient in manufacturing processes, construction practices, standards, and regulations relevant to food, pharmaceutical, or related sectors.
• Outstanding problem-solving and optimization abilities.
• Capability to execute projects within specified timelines.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related engineering field.
• Proven leadership and decision-making skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Adaptable to change.
• Proficient in MS Office applications.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, averaging 35%-50% over time and potentially 60%-80% during specific project phases.
