This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take full ownership of designated power units, managing everything from battery, solar array wing, PCU/PPU, and PDU requirements through design or supplier specifications to verification and acceptance.
• Create electronic designs for internally developed units, encompassing aspects like distribution and switching, protection and current limiting, inrush and fault handling, DC/DC conversion, heater and thermistor acquisition, as well as analog and digital interfaces.
• Guide designs through processes including topology and part selection, schematic capture, worst-case analysis, derating, part-stress analysis, layout support, fabrication, bring-up, debugging, and board testing.
• Manage the technical content for purchased units, which includes developing specifications and SOWs, evaluating proposals, conducting supplier design reviews, resolving interface and requirements issues, and reviewing acceptance data packages.
• Oversee unit-level requirements and spacecraft interfaces while ensuring alignment with subsystem architecture.
• Select and justify EEE parts based on radiation, quality, and longevity requirements for a 15-year GEO mission.
• Take charge of unit verification, which encompasses establishing test objectives, procedures, setups, data reduction, and investigating anomalies.
• Assist in spacecraft-level electrical integration throughout the launch phase, addressing grounding and bonding, power quality, harness, and EMI/EMC issues.
• Contribute unit-level information to power budgets and energy balance, and assist in architectural trades through analysis and data.
• Collaborate within the Systems Engineering framework for requirements, interfaces, and technical budgets.
• A B.S. or M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Over 5 years of experience in designing power electronics or analog and mixed-signal hardware.
• Proven hands-on experience in board design from requirements gathering through schematic creation, analysis, bring-up, and testing, with demonstrable design accomplishments.
• Experience in unit-level ownership from requirements through to acceptance.
• Strong knowledge in switching and linear conversion, protection and current limiting, inrush, fault isolation, and associated failure modes.
• Competence in worst-case, derating, and part stress analysis.
• EEE parts selection expertise for space or other high-reliability environments.
• Background in specifying and technically managing procured hardware units, including conducting supplier design reviews and managing acceptance processes.
• Familiarity with instrumentation, measurement, and bench debugging.
• A strong plus: experience with spacecraft power units; knowledge of EMI/EMC and grounding; magnetics design expertise; familiarity with firmware or FPGA; familiarity with ECSS or equivalent space standards.
• Must be a U.S. person: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or refugee/asylee status; temporary work visa holders are not eligible.
• Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
• Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
• Retirement savings plan with company matching.
• Opportunities for professional development and continuous learning.
• Flexible working hours and remote work options.
