Staff Engineer, AI/LLM Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assist in the design, development, and distribution of agentic systems that present scientific capabilities to clients.

• Create agent loops, orchestration code, and control frameworks that balance autonomy, cost, and response time.

• Make daily decisions regarding prompts, tools, structured outputs, and provider trade-offs among Anthropic, OpenAI, and others.

• Establish and manage MCP servers that expose essential scientific engines and product functionalities to agentic clients.

• Design and sustain context-management layers that provide agents with the appropriate information at optimal times.

• Set up vector stores, knowledge bases, and retrieval patterns for agent reasoning and customer-facing processes.

• Develop evaluations, traces, and feedback mechanisms to debug and enhance non-deterministic systems.

• Contribute to architectural frameworks and technical standards.

• Mentor engineers working on AI features and elevate applied-AI practices within the team.

• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, including recent production work on agents, LLM-integrated features, or MCP and tool servers.

• Strong foundation in Node.js and TypeScript.

• Proficiency in designing service-layer code and integrating tools.

• Working knowledge of agent orchestration, prompt and tool design, and context-management techniques (RAG, vector search, memory).

• Practical experience with at least one major LLM provider SDK (Anthropic, OpenAI, or a comparable alternative).

• A pragmatic, applied engineering approach.

• Proficiency in using AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot) in everyday tasks.

• Ability to work across multiple programming languages using AI coding tools.

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field is preferred.

• A master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field is an advantage.

• Relevant technical certifications are encouraged.
