Senior Software Engineer, AI Search

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Czechia.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to convert business challenges into AI-powered search and retrieval solutions.

• Design and construct hybrid search systems that integrate BM25 keyword search with semantic/vector search across extensive datasets.

• Develop and enhance retrieval pipelines for RAG and AI-driven applications.

• Create scalable pipelines for document ingestion, indexing, embedding generation, and search ranking.

• Work alongside the Data team for data collection, enrichment, chunking, and indexing tasks.

• Design and implement AI-driven services that merge LLMs with search infrastructure.

• Write Python code to manipulate data, construct search pipelines, and assess retrieval performance.

• Develop tools and infrastructure for relevance tuning, search quality assessment, and continuous ranking-model enhancements.

• Collaborate with cloud operations to deploy AI search services, monitor performance, and enhance latency, relevance, and reliability.

• Assist in establishing the R&D hub in the Czech Republic and work with U.S.-based teams during the integration phase.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in backend systems or search infrastructure.

• Proven experience in building search or retrieval systems for large document stores.

• Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Solr, or comparable search platforms.

• Experience in implementing hybrid search that combines keyword-based retrieval with vector embeddings.

• Strong programming skills in Python or a similar modern tech stack.

• Familiarity with document processing pipelines, including chunking, embeddings, and indexing.

• Experience in developing scalable data infrastructure for production SaaS systems.

• Experience working within AWS cloud environments and modern DevOps methodologies.

• Familiarity with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, or FAISS.

• Background in tuning search ranking and relevance models.

• Experience in information retrieval or search relevance engineering.

• Familiarity with building RAG systems or AI agents.

• Experience working with LLMs and retrieval-augmented architectures.

• Understanding of large-scale document processing, including OCR and structured document extraction.

• Exposure to the fintech or legal sector.
