Staff Data Scientist – Ads Marketplace

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Drive revenue growth and enhance advertiser value through the machine learning auction ads delivery system.

• Contribute to the development and enhancement of Nextdoor’s core Ads products.

• Shape ranking models and define objective functions.

• Establish an explainability layer for model feedback mechanisms.

• Conduct auction measurement.

• Lead the roadmap and investigate applications of artificial intelligence and large language models.

• Design and develop algorithms and models to enhance Ads Marketplace performance for both end-users and advertisers.

• Create and oversee efficient, precise experiments, including post-release evaluations.

• Generate strategic insights through data analysis and assess the performance and impact of data-driven content.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Sales, and Finance teams.

• Engage in in-person training sessions, off-site events, volunteer days, and team-building activities.

• Foster in-person relationships and contribute positively to company culture.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of pertinent Data Science experience.

• Familiarity with Ads Marketplace and/or Monetization.

• Proficient in designing, debugging, and executing complex SQL queries.

• Strong command of Python, including libraries such as numpy, pandas, and scikit-learn.

• Experience in formulating, executing, and communicating complex analyses, including various types of experiments, causal inference studies, and exploratory analysis.

• A passion for uncovering meaningful insights that guide product and business strategies.

• A willingness to explore and implement AI and emerging technologies.

• Bonus: Experience related to social or community-focused products.

• Bonus: Experience with small businesses and marketplaces.

• Bonus: Experience in advertising and auction systems.

• Bonus: Familiarity with agentic coding platforms such as Cursor or Windsurf.
