Senior Data Scientist

📋 Description

• Oversee Foley's research initiatives in collaboration with the Chief AI Officer, guiding the process from hypothesis formulation to evidence gathering and recommendation.

• Collaborate with business leaders, customers, and subject matter experts to pinpoint data-science opportunities related to driver risk, fraud detection, anomalies, retention strategies, pricing, and compliance forecasting.

• Evaluate opportunities, structure analyses, and articulate business cases in accessible language.

• Work alongside ML engineers and data engineers to create forecasts, identify leading indicators, and develop production models.

• Direct exploratory data analysis, hypothesis-tree creation, domain-focused feature engineering, and model validation.

• Conduct holdout validation, check for data leakage, perform calibration, execute error analysis, and review for bias and fairness.

• Evaluate the strategic significance of Foley's data, identify data deficiencies, assess external data for potential purchase or licensing, and assist in shaping and pricing data products.

• Clearly communicate model capabilities, limitations, and confidence levels to executives, customers, and engineers.

• Transform findings into product proposals and establish success metrics prior to launch.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive senior-level experience in end-to-end data science, encompassing exploratory data analysis (EDA), hypothesis creation, feature engineering, modeling, and validation.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings and recommendations to both executives and non-technical audiences.

• Strong business analytics capabilities and expertise in assessing business opportunities.

• Relevant experience in consulting or related fields such as strategy, operations, private equity value creation, due diligence, or involvement in an internal strategy or analytics team.

• Proven track record of leading a research or analytics process from question framing to delivering actionable recommendations.

• Solid statistical knowledge, including the ability to identify noise, leakage, and confounding variables, and to convey uncertainty effectively.

• Proficient in Python and SQL.

• Experience collaborating with engineering teams to deploy models into production.

• Willingness to work from one of the specified U.S. states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or Wisconsin.

• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

• Successful completion of a background check and, if applicable, a drug screening.

• Additional beneficial experience in areas such as transportation, logistics, fleet management, regulatory technology (regtech), compliance, forecasting, scenario planning, data products, graph data, entity resolution, or text and document data utilizing LLMs.
