Staff Data Engineer – Mission Data Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the design and execution of scalable data pipelines and data products.

• Integrate data from various distributed repositories, applications, and enterprise systems.

• Create designs that prioritize data quality, lineage, security, observability, and long-term maintainability.

• Set engineering benchmarks for testing, source control, deployment, and operational processes.

• Collaborate with platform, security, software, and mission teams to achieve production capabilities.

• Evaluate technical designs, mentor engineers, and address intricate integration challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• At least eight years of experience in developing production data systems.

• Strong expertise in Python, SQL, and contemporary data-engineering methodologies.

• Proven experience in designing data pipelines and services in cloud or distributed settings.

• Solid understanding of software-engineering principles, including testing, source control, CI/CD, and operational monitoring.

• Proven technical leadership and accountability for complex data capabilities.

• Experience providing support to a Department of Defense customer.

• Active Secret clearance is required.

• Preferred: Experience supporting the U.S. Army.

• Preferred: Familiarity with AWS or another large-scale cloud platform.

• Preferred: Knowledge of Palantir Foundry, Army Vantage, or similar data platforms.

• Preferred: Experience in integrating enterprise content repositories and legacy systems.

• Preferred: Understanding of distributed processing, infrastructure as code, and DevSecOps.
