📋 Description

• Take ownership of the target-state architecture and technical roadmap for Medbridge’s data platform centered around Snowflake.

• Balance aspects such as security, reliability, usability, innovation, cost, and operational complexity.

• Construct and manage dependable data pipelines and integrations that span operational and SaaS data sources.

• Design and implement Snowflake security measures and RBAC, adhering to principles of least privilege, separation of duties, auditability, secure sharing, retention, monitoring, and appropriate access patterns.

• Establish production-grade engineering and platform operations, which encompass testing, version control, code reviews, CI/CD, secrets management, environment promotion, deployment, rollback, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and recovery.

• Oversee data governance, contracts, and technical lineage.

• Maintain ownership and inventory of source systems, data contracts, schemas, interfaces, quality expectations, change management, deprecations, migrations, documentation, and communication of downstream impacts.

• Simplify the process of discovering, understanding, accessing, and trusting data.

• Lead cross-functional technical initiatives involving Analytics Engineering, DevOps, Data Science, Security, Product Engineering, ML, and Integrations.

• Create practical patterns, enable AI/ML workloads, assess build-versus-buy options, and minimize unnecessary platform complexity.

• Lead by influencing rather than through direct management.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in designing and operating cloud data platforms, covering ingestion, orchestration, warehouse architecture, security, reliability, and production operations in regulated settings.

• In-depth expertise in Snowflake, including RBAC, contractual data separation, secure internal and external access patterns, secure views and sharing, warehouse and resource management, query and cost optimization, metadata, monitoring, and environment design.

• Demonstrated experience in building and managing both batch and incremental data pipelines with failure handling, retries, reconciliation, observability, recovery, and clear ownership.

• Proficient in Python and SQL engineering.

• Experience with modular design, testing, version control, code review, packaging, CI/CD, and maintainable interfaces.

• Background in operating production data systems across development, staging, and production workflows.

• Familiarity with deployment practices and collaboration with DevOps or platform engineering teams.

• Experience in delivering data to applications, APIs, ML systems, reverse-ETL, or other operational consumers.

• Knowledge of data contracts addressing ownership, quality, compatibility, schema evolution, deprecation, and communication of breaking changes.

• Experience collaborating with Security, Privacy, or Legal teams regarding sensitive or regulated data.

• Ability to make practical decisions about build-versus-buy and managed services.

• Strong technical communication and cross-functional leadership abilities.

• Capability to lead complex initiatives, establish standards, and influence without formal authority.

• Self-directed with a low-ego approach to engineering.

• A technical or quantitative degree, or equivalent skills demonstrated through professional experience.

• Healthcare experience is beneficial but not mandatory.

• Preferred: advanced expertise in Snowflake security.

• Preferred: experience in developing data-to-product capabilities.

• Preferred: experience in enabling ML/AI workloads within Snowflake.

• Preferred: experience modernizing development data environments using Openflow, dbt, Terraform, data catalogs, observability platforms, or healthcare interoperability/EHR/EMR ecosystems.

🏝️ Benefits

• Mission-driven work that contributes to helping patients recover more quickly.

• Opportunity to make a significant impact on millions of patients through products utilized by over 300,000 clinicians.

• Equal opportunity employment.
