Senior Backend Engineer - Data Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Develop and maintain backend services and APIs.

• Create integrations with external providers via APIs, webhooks, and file transfers.

• Design effective data ingestion and processing workflows.

• Implement queues, workers, retries, replay mechanisms, and idempotent processes.

• Enhance data quality through validation, monitoring, and reconciliation efforts.

• Design and optimize PostgreSQL data models, queries, indexes, and migrations.

• Investigate discrepancies and failures across various data sources.

• Take ownership of the work post-deployment, encompassing observability, alerts, documentation, and operational support.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Data Science, business stakeholders, and external partners.

• Assist in establishing technical standards for the expanding platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in building production backend systems.

• Proficient in TypeScript and Node.js, or another typed backend language with a desire to work with TypeScript.

• Advanced expertise in PostgreSQL, particularly in data modeling and performance enhancement.

• Experience in developing integrations and operational data pipelines.

• Knowledge of distributed systems and asynchronous processing.

• Experience with implementing retries, idempotency, reconciliation, and failure recovery strategies.

• Strong sense of ownership and capability to resolve ambiguous technical issues.

• Excellent communication skills with experience in collaborating across both technical and non-technical teams.

• Proficiency in English at a B2 level or higher.
