Staff Backend Engineer – Performance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the Teleport Core Product by focusing on performance, scalability, security, networking, and integration with external systems.

• Engage in the complete product lifecycle, from identifying customer challenges to drafting RFDs, implementing solutions, testing, and documenting outcomes.

• Gain expertise in Teleport's scalability, performance, and reliability within large-scale deployments.

• Design, develop, and deliver top-quality products.

• Lead a geographically distributed team of engineers.

• Primarily write code in Go.

• Collaborate with other teams at Teleport to enhance scalability and performance.

• Work closely with customers to identify and resolve performance-related issues.

• Expand technical knowledge and expertise.

• Openness to participate in a coding challenge in Go as part of the interview process.

• A builder mindset and hands-on experience in developing zero-to-one products.

• Significant experience with Go programming.

• Extensive background in creating scalable, reliable, and high-performance distributed systems and platforms.

• Strong leadership skills within a team environment.

• Experience in engineering management.

• Background in Linux systems engineering.

• Familiarity with Identity Management, RBAC, ABAC, and zero-trust security frameworks.

• A keen intellectual curiosity and eagerness to master new technologies.

• Commitment to transparency, honesty, and an ego-free approach.

• Notable contributions to open-source projects are an advantage.

• Candidates must currently reside in the US.

• Availability to attend an onboarding week in person at Teleport HQ in Oakland, California.

• Willingness to undergo background checks, education, and employment verification.

• Completion of a take-home coding challenge in Go using GitHub, generally requiring around two weeks.
