Staff Back-End Engineer, Data

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and develop automated data pipelines along with ETL/ELT processes.

• Enhance data quality, validation, and monitoring across production environments.

• Create internal tools that expedite engineering workflows and minimize manual data tasks.

• Collaborate with PostgreSQL and BigQuery to optimize storage, enhance query performance, and improve data modeling.

• Work alongside engineering teams throughout the organization to identify data requirements and develop scalable solutions.

• Engage in code reviews and architectural discussions.

• Contribute to the on-call rotation for data systems management.

• Uphold data governance and access control practices to ensure adherence to HIPAA and other regulatory standards across data systems.

• Maintain comprehensive documentation for data pipelines, schemas, and system dependencies to facilitate team knowledge sharing and operational continuity.

• Participate in quarterly company meetings.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in backend or data engineering.

• Proficient in Python.

• Strong SQL abilities, especially in PostgreSQL and BigQuery.

• Experience in designing and managing automated data pipelines.

• Familiarity with data quality frameworks, validation, and monitoring processes.

• Knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes.

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform.

• Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) or similar SQL-based transformation tools.

• Proficiency in Go is preferred.

• Experience with additional large-scale data stores (CouchDB, CockroachDB, or similar) is preferred.

• Background in health insurance or claims processing is preferred.

• Experience with Terraform/Terraform Cloud is preferred.

• Background in incident management and response is preferred.

• Experience in a start-up environment is preferred.
