Staff Attorney – Insurance Defense

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Manage intricate and high-stakes litigation cases.

• Evaluate substantive and procedural legal and factual matters.

• Perform comprehensive legal research.

• Formulate and present defense strategies autonomously on behalf of clients.

• Draft complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motions, and briefs.

• Deliver prompt communications, information, legal counsel, and other services to clients and claims customers.

• Interact with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel.

• Efficiently and effectively resolve assigned cases.

• Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence during trials, judicial hearings, and alternative dispute resolutions.

• Research, draft, file, and advocate appellate briefs.

• Provide legal opinions to the Managing Attorney, staff, clients, and claims customers.

• Report directly to the Staff Legal Managing Attorney.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.

• License to practice in Texas state and local federal courts.

• Good standing member of the relevant Bar Association.

• Staff Attorney: at least 3 years of experience in civil tort matters.

• Senior Staff Attorney: minimum of 5+ years of experience in civil tort matters.

• Senior Staff Attorney: preferred documented experience as first or second chair in jury trials/appellate cases.

• Strong skills in legal research and writing.

• Excellent organizational abilities and capacity to prioritize tasks and time effectively.

• Strong communication, computer, and technological proficiencies.

• Ability to swiftly adapt to new software as necessary.

• Proven expertise and familiarity in managing claim cases and litigation.
