Staff AI Engineer – Payments Intelligence

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain, +7 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the architecture for Yuno's AI agents (AIDA, NOVA) and intelligence systems.

• Establish the technical direction for agentic AI and elevate the team's technical standards.

• Design multi-step agents that incorporate tool usage, orchestration, memory, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) for enhanced reliability and low latency at scale.

• Develop multilingual customer interaction agents for platforms such as phone and WhatsApp.

• Define evaluation criteria for agent quality and safety, including observability and guardrails.

• Architect client intelligence systems that transform payment data into actionable insights for merchants.

• Create AI-driven automation to streamline internal operations and enhance customer support.

• Mentor engineers and collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Staff Engineers on cross-functional AI initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in the field.

• Extensive software engineering background, with demonstrated success in building and deploying production LLM or AI-agent systems.

• In-depth knowledge of agentic systems, including multi-step agents, tool usage, orchestration, memory, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).

• Strong skills in LLM applications, such as prompt engineering, evaluation, and implementing guardrails to ensure reliable and safe outputs.

• Proficient in Python for AI/ML, along with solid backend engineering skills in Go and/or Kotlin for scaling systems in production.

• Experience with model serving and LLM inference, including cloud infrastructure for executing AI workloads in production (AWS or similar).

• Hands-on experience with tools like LangFuse, LangSmith, Braintrust, or MLflow, along with robust automated testing and CI/CD practices.

• Proven track record of technical leadership, mentoring engineers, driving technical vision, and successfully delivering complex cross-team projects.

• Advanced proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
