Senior AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Dakota.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and deploy predictive models utilizing regression, classification, clustering, and neural networks.

• Design and implement comprehensive AI/ML/NLP solutions that adhere to cybersecurity and enterprise standards.

• Generate code that is maintainable, efficient, reliable, secure, fault-tolerant, and thoroughly documented.

• Detect and address performance issues, security risks, and technical obstacles throughout the AI/ML stack.

• Construct and sustain CI/CD pipelines using Terraform, GitLab, and GitLab Runner, incorporating automated testing, quality assessments, and security scans.

• Assist with production operations through deployments, smoke testing, monitoring, incident/root cause analysis, and issue resolution.

• Engage in Agile processes, including user-story refinement, task estimation, sprint backlog creation, reviews, demos, and retrospectives.

• Collaborate with teams across product, architecture, DevOps, security, and QA.

• Design and conduct experiments, evaluate results, and optimize models for Document AI applications.

• Document technical designs, models, and processes, and effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related discipline; 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

• 18 years of overall experience, including 13+ years in professional Software/IT roles.

• Over 7 years of practical experience in Data Analysis and Machine Learning.

• Proven experience in maintaining and improving machine learning systems, ideally for document processing and Document AI.

• Strong command of Python and contemporary ML libraries/frameworks, such as TensorFlow and PyTorch.

• Proficient with AWS services including Bedrock, Lambda, ECS, SQS, SNS, S3, ELB, ALB, and Aurora RDS.

• Experience in crafting Terraform configurations and utilizing GitLab Runner for software deployment in cloud environments.

• Expertise in image transformer models for document image comprehension, such as Microsoft’s DiT.

• Familiarity with self-supervised learning techniques for large-scale unlabeled text images.

• Experience in applying Transformer models to Document AI tasks, including document image classification and layout analysis.

• Capability to utilize self-supervised pre-trained models as backbone networks for downstream Document AI functions.

• Proficient in designing experiments, assessing outcomes, refining models, and conveying results.

• Familiarity with integrating Transformer models into OCR workflows.

• Understanding of image processing techniques and OpenCV for analyzing document images.

• At least one current AWS certification required, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Developer, Machine Learning, SysOps Administrator, or Cloud Practitioner.

• Preferred skills: Java, SQL, relational databases, web services, REST APIs, Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, MyBatis, JBoss/Fuse, Camel, AMQ, and broader AWS architecture and integration patterns.
