This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Develop and deploy production AI code on a daily basis.
• Spearhead semantic retrieval, indexing, and knowledge graph strategies on the data platform.
• Empower agents to assist customers and obtain comprehensive customer context in a single interaction.
• Construct inference and signal layers utilizing the Iceberg-based lakehouse.
• Write scored inferences back to the data platform and provide signals through contracts for other teams.
• Transform identified conditions such as churn risk, usage and entitlement discrepancies, and expansion opportunities into actionable workflows.
• Choose suitable large models, small fine-tuned models, or deterministic code for each specific workload.
• Oversee inference costs effectively.
• Take ownership of evaluation and observability for AI systems.
• Define engineering patterns for other teams to follow.
• Collaborate with engineering and business leaders to translate company objectives into delivered systems.
• Work in conjunction with observability, the core data platform, insights and intelligence, as well as product and platform teams.
• Over 8 years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years of delivering AI or ML systems to production.
• Strong programming fundamentals with advanced proficiency in at least one language used for AI and data tasks; Python is the primary language for ML and insights.
• Proficient in advanced SQL, transformation layers such as dbt, and distributed query engines over lakehouse or warehouse storage.
• Experience in evaluating query costs and partitioning strategies.
• Background in production retrieval and context engineering, including embeddings, vector search, hybrid or graph retrieval, and retrieval evaluation.
• Familiarity with agentic systems and durable workflows in production, encompassing tool calling, state and memory management, and human-in-the-loop patterns.
• Knowledge of evaluation and observability for AI systems, including tracing, prompt and version management, and dataset-driven testing.
• Experience with cloud deployment of containerized services; AWS is preferred.
• Accountability for inference costs.
• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in establishing shared data or ML capabilities for other teams.
• Knowledge of small and fine-tuned models, including the distillation of task-specific models.
• Proficiency in OpenTelemetry and managing high-volume logs, metrics, and traces.
• Understanding of data governance principles covering access control, lineage, and data residency.
• Experience in Enterprise SaaS or CMS, with familiarity with Drupal-based DXP.
• Awareness of AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Copilot, as well as MCP or similar technologies.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting AI system designs to engineering teams and C-suite stakeholders.
• Proven track record as a senior individual contributor and mentor through technical work.
