This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the accounts payable operations.
• Enter, post, and track vendor invoices, aging, and payment statuses.
• Establish and maintain vendor and 1099 contractor profiles, purchase orders, and associated documentation.
• Assist with 1099 compliance and annual filing processes.
• Prepare ACH, wire, and check payment batches for Controller's review and approval.
• Process employee expense reports, ensuring adherence to company policies and government contract stipulations.
• Monitor bank accounts and document related transactions.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of bank and corporate credit card accounts, investigate reconciling items, and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare and post journal entries while reconciling general ledger accounts.
• Aid in month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Perform account analysis and resolve discrepancies through comprehensive research.
• Support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis initiatives.
• Review labor and non-labor expenses for appropriate project charging and cost distribution.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with GAAP, FAR/DCAA, VAAR, and relevant government contracting regulations.
• Support compliance with the Service Contract Act.
• Prepare documentation and supporting schedules for audits.
• Review time entries and assist with payroll-related accounting functions.
• Reconcile payroll and benefit accounts, coordinating with HR and payroll providers.
• Assist with multi-state payroll tax compliance and reporting.
• Monitor filing deadlines and maintain compliance calendars.
• Manage business licenses and registrations while overseeing state portal access.
• Collaborate with third-party compliance providers and registered agents.
• Identify opportunities for enhancing accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.
• Contribute to automation efforts and optimize accounting operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience.
• Fundamental understanding of GAAP, FAR/DCAA regulations, VAAR, and government contracting compliance.
• Proficient in Excel.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and organizational capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while effectively collaborating with team members.
• Capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Preferred experience with Unanet GovCon ERP or another government contracting ERP system.
• Preferred familiarity with ADP, timekeeping systems, and expense management platforms.
• Preferred experience supporting multi-state payroll and payroll tax compliance.
• Preferred background in business registrations and state compliance requirements.
• Preferred knowledge of the Service Contract Act.
• Previous experience with a government contractor is preferred.
