Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable, Corporate Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Prepare and reconcile assigned routine balance-sheet, accounts payable, and general-ledger accounts within month-end deadlines.

• Investigate reconciling items and accounting discrepancies, resolve issues within scope, and escalate unusual or judgmental matters.

• Prepare routine journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and supporting schedules.

• Assist with accounts payable cutoff, completeness, and period-end review.

• Review vendor, corporate card, and reimbursement activity for appropriate accounting treatment, coding, and entity allocation.

• Assist with accounting for Ramp corporate cards, reimbursements, and Bill Pay; collaborate with the accounts payable specialist on operational exceptions.

• Prepare account analyses, variance explanations, and audit-ready schedules.

• Support external audit requests and maintain organized accounting documentation.

• Assist with purchase order/P2P accounting activities, including coding, entity selection, invoice/PO discrepancies, accrual inputs, and period-end treatment.

• Maintain assigned standard operating procedures and identify opportunities to enhance reconciliation quality, accounting accuracy, and close efficiency.

• Collaborate with accounts payable, corporate accounting, financial planning and analysis, and business stakeholders in a distributed working environment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience; equivalent relevant experience may also be accepted.

• Hands-on experience with month-end close activities, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.

• Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial controls.

• Strong skills in Excel and/or Google Sheets.

• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.

• Ability to independently manage assigned routine accounting responsibilities and meet close deadlines.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote/distributed team environment.

• Experience with NetSuite or a comparable ERP system.

• Familiarity with Ramp or a comparable corporate card, expense management, or P2P platform.

• Exposure to multi-entity and/or multi-currency accounting.

• Experience in high-volume accounts payable or expense accounting.

• Familiarity with purchase order, procurement, or P2P workflow processes.

• Experience supporting audits, finance systems, or process improvements.

• Background in healthcare, technology, high-growth, or multi-location companies.

• Legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of hire without current or future employer visa sponsorship.
