SQL Database Administrator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee SQL Server databases both on-premises and within Azure cloud platforms (IaaS/PaaS)

• Suggest both short-term and long-term strategic initiatives for database infrastructure

• Establish and recommend policies, procedures, and maintenance strategies for DBMS resource management

• Configure and uphold database servers and their associated processes

• Monitor the health and performance of systems

• Ensure optimal levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security

• Analyze, resolve, and rectify issues in real-time

• Offer recommendations for potential solutions

• Enhance and automate regular processes, monitor issues, and document modifications

• Support developers with query optimization and schema enhancement

• Provide 24x7 support for critical production environments

• Carry out scheduled maintenance and assist with release deployment activities during off-hours

• Engage in an off-hours production support call rotation

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA

• Administration experience with SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS

• Proficient in Performance Tuning and Optimization

• Skilled in creating and tuning database stored procedures, triggers, and indexes

• Familiarity with backups, restores, and recovery models

• Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions for SQL Server

• Experience in supporting a development team within a production setting

• Strong troubleshooting abilities using SQL Server Profiler, Database Engine Tuning Advisor, Performance Monitor, and Query Store

• Design and configuration experience with Failover Clustering (Always On: FCI & AG)

• High-speed internet connection required for remote work, with Cable or Fiber ONLY and the capability to connect via Ethernet

• Minimum internet speed requirements: 70/30 Mbps (basic), 200-300/35-70 Mbps (shared), 500-1,000/100+ Mbps (heavy use)

• Experience with Azure SQL is preferred

• Familiarity with Foglight, Redgate, and other third-party SQL Server tools is preferred

• Relevant certifications are a plus
