This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Engage in daily and ongoing communication with the Program Manager / Associate Program Manager regarding both new and existing projects.
• Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of rare disease program offerings, covering disease/product pathophysiology, therapeutic areas, disease processes, mechanisms of action, and rare disease SOPs.
• Utilize knowledge of public/private and federal funding mechanisms, as well as rare disease funding organizations in the US and Canada.
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to prepare submissions that meet public/private payer criteria.
• Oversee all necessary aspects to secure prescription drug coverage for patients.
• Coordinate with insurance companies, physician offices, and healthcare professionals to enhance reimbursement solutions.
• Navigate the lobbying process to secure prescription drug coverage and reimbursement for essential and high-cost medications.
• Organize documents, submissions, and related paperwork for insurance companies and public/federal funding initiatives.
• Implement financial means testing to optimize patients' prescription drug coverage.
• Manage pharmacy processes following the acquisition of funding.
• Report all adverse events to designated units/departments.
• Carry out additional duties and tasks as required.
• Post-secondary education or equivalent in a related field.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in customer service within an office environment.
• At least 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, insurance, or healthcare-related sectors.
• Prior experience in reimbursement and familiarity with public, private, and federal reimbursement processes is essential.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a customer service role; OR five (5) years or more as a Senior Reimbursement Specialist.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Professional, courteous, and efficient telephone communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to organize time, establish priorities, and manage multiple tasks to meet competing deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the capability to discuss sensitive topics with patients in a healthcare context.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Bilingual proficiency in French and English is required.
• Advanced understanding of the pharmaceutical or insurance industry.
• Strong business and financial insight.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
• Proficient in both oral and written communication.
