Special Education Teacher – Elementary School

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Deliver instruction, assistance, and support to students with special education needs as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEP)

• Oversee the educational process for students in special education

• Ensure compliance with documentation requirements necessary for serving special education students

• Apply instructional techniques that foster learning and enhance student engagement

• Develop instructional materials tailored to diverse student requirements

• Work collaboratively with parents and colleagues on course objectives, curriculum, and resources

• Engage in Professional Learning Communities and ongoing professional development

• Conduct live synchronous sessions

• Evaluate student data to recommend remediation and enrichment strategies

• Take part in data analysis meetings to assess student progress

• Gather data and work samples that support IEP objectives

• Keep records of parent communications, collaborations with general education teachers, and student interventions

• Adjust K12 lessons and assessments to meet IEP specifications

• Partner with general education teachers to promote inclusion and student achievement

• Collaborate on progress, semester, and grading reports

• Offer special education services and assist teachers and parents with necessary accommodations

• Communicate with parents and related service personnel regarding suitable therapies

• Travel within and across assigned geographic regions to support students, attend meetings, and engage in school events, open houses, and orientations

⛳️ Requirements

• Valid Special Education and Elementary School EC-6 Generalist certification

• Bachelor’s degree(s)

• At least six (6) months of student teaching experience

• Teaching certification(s)

• Academic transcripts

• Teachers with one or more years of teaching experience must submit prior performance data

• Performance evaluations

• Previous year’s state assessment data

• Reference letter(s)

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Willingness to travel at least once per month within and across assigned geographic areas

• Experience working with the specified age group

• Background in assisting adults and children with technology use

• Quick adaptability to new technology tools

• Ability to pass required background checks

• Capacity to work independently, typically exceeding 40 hours per week

• Capability to maintain a distraction-free professional home office during work hours

• Strong preference for residents of Texas
