Sonic Audit Specialist, Portuguese

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate Amazon Sonic multilingual transcription data by listening to audio recordings and assessing the accuracy of transcriptions.

• Apply standardized error codes, determine pass/fail outcomes, and provide a brief rationale for each decision.

• Examine word-level forced alignment segments and verify start and end timestamps.

• Ensure that reference transcriptions are consistent with the spoken content.

• Adjust incorrect boundaries, split or merge segments as needed, add missing segments, and eliminate segments that contain no words.

• Assign relevant error codes and clarify in straightforward language the reasons behind a task's pass or fail status.

• Highlight critical errors first to ensure that the reasons for failure are transparent.

• Complete a calibration process prior to commencing production work.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native or near-native proficiency in Portuguese as spoken in Brazil.

• Must be either a native of a region where Brazilian Portuguese is predominant or possess fluency with at least five years of residence in such an area.

• Strong proficiency in reading and writing in English.

• Capability to comprehend a detailed rulebook and provide clear feedback in English.

• Disciplined adherence to written rubrics across numerous judgments.

• Excellent listening skills, including the ability to distinguish similar sounds and identify word boundaries in continuous speech.

• Previous experience in transcription, subtitling, localization, linguistic annotation, or quality assurance is highly regarded.

• Beneficial but not mandatory: previous work in AI data annotation or model evaluation.

• Beneficial but not mandatory: background in phonetics or linguistics.

• Beneficial but not mandatory: experience using audio editing or waveform tools.

• A brief calibration phase must be completed before starting production work.

• Must work as an independent contractor.

• H1-B and STEM OPT candidates are not eligible.
