Sonic Audit Specialist – Japanese

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Evaluate AI training data in Japanese within Amazon Sonic audit collections.

• Listen to recordings of human or agent speech and confirm whether the transcriptions accurately reflect the dialogue.

• Apply error codes, determine pass or fail results, and provide a brief rationale.

• Verify segment start and end timestamps at the word level against the audio content.

• Ensure that reference transcriptions align with the spoken words.

• Amend incorrect boundaries, split or combine segments, add missing segments, and eliminate segments that contain no words.

• Tag all relevant error codes and clarify the reasoning behind task outcomes.

• Highlight critical errors first in failure rationales.

• Complete a brief calibration phase prior to commencing production work.

⛳️ Requirements

• Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese as spoken in Japan.

• Must be either born and raised in a region where this variety of Japanese is predominant or possess full fluency with five or more years of residency in such a locale.

• Strong reading and writing skills in English.

• Capability to comprehend a detailed rulebook and articulate clear feedback in English.

• Consistent application of written rubrics across numerous evaluations.

• Excellent listening skills, including the ability to distinguish similar sounds and identify word boundaries in continuous speech.

• Previous experience in transcription, subtitling, localization, linguistic annotation, or quality assurance is highly desirable.

• Not mandatory but beneficial: experience in AI data annotation or model evaluation.

• Not mandatory but advantageous: background in phonetics or linguistics.

• Not mandatory but useful: familiarity with audio editing or waveform tools.

• Must be able to work as an independent contractor.

• H1-B and STEM OPT candidates are not eligible.
