This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Deliver technical pre-sales engineering in the areas of cloud services, embedded software, connectivity, and hardware solutions.
• Propel revenue growth through engagement with major direct clients, solution providers, distributors, and systems integrators.
• Conduct technical training on IoT cloud and connectivity offerings for partners at Sierra Wireless.
• Create proposals and Statements of Work for significant projects.
• Collaborate with the sales team to coordinate technical account activities.
• Enhance awareness of Sierra Wireless products within the designated region.
• Provide cross-training for the Sierra Wireless Technical team on AirVantage services and products.
• Manage the complete customer onboarding process.
• Assist sales teams in a technical pre-sales engineering role.
• Serve as the Total Solution Technical Expert, evaluating opportunities and analyzing customer business models and ROI.
• Make Go/No Go decisions for Cloud & Connectivity Solutions projects.
• Support prospective customers during trial phases to realize initial value and enhance conversion rates.
• Specify technical deliverables in customer proposals in collaboration with engineering, product management, service delivery, and project management teams.
• Execute technology demonstrations of SWIR for customers, partners, and internal teams.
• Provide Product Management with analyzed insights from customer feedback regarding software content and roadmaps.
• A minimum of a 4-year college degree in engineering and/or Information Technology.
• Over 5 years of experience with data-centric technical product lines, including embedded software/hardware and SaaS.
• A decade of Sales Engineering/Solutions Architect experience within relevant industry sectors.
• Strong grasp of the M2M/IoT ecosystem.
• Well-developed business acumen.
• Technical expertise in IP-based wireless technology, public wireless networks, and IP networking.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and maintain high performance levels.
• Capacity to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform well under pressure.
• Proficient in English written and verbal communication.
• Understanding of SaaS, cloud hosting, cloud software, enterprise IT, RESTful APIs, JSON, and HTTP.
• Knowledge of cloud-hosted cellular M2M/IoT data communications architecture.
• Familiarity with cellular network architectures, such as EVDO, HSPA, and LTE.
• Awareness of regional Mobile Network Operators, account/IP assignments, private networking, SMS, and spectrum usage.
• Understanding of packet-switched networks, including bridges, switches, and routers.
• Basic knowledge of IP concepts, including subnetting, CIDR, routable/non-routable addresses, and IP packet headers.
• Familiarity with TCP and UDP protocols.
• Understanding of SNMP, SMTP, Telnet, SSH, and SSL protocols.
• Willingness to travel 20–30% based on customer assignments and regions.
