Software Engineering Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Continuously enhance team productivity and optimize agile methodologies.

• Develop strategies to boost operational efficiency.

• Manage the daily functions of an engineering team comprising 6–8 direct reports.

• Attract and recruit exceptional engineering talent.

• Onboard new software engineers by educating them on best practices, standards, culture, and policies.

• Conduct performance evaluations, mentor direct reports, and strategize career development.

• Engage in system architecture conversations and technical design assessments.

• Guarantee system scalability, reliability, and security.

• Carry out code reviews and promote clean coding standards.

• Take part in bi-weekly engineering lunch & learns.

• Collaborate with Product Managers to fulfill and exceed customer expectations.

• Design and maintain a premier technology system that underpins Happy Returns’ returns software and reverse logistics initiative.

⛳️ Requirements

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• Minimum of two years of experience as a senior engineer.

• At least one year of experience in a technical lead or team lead role.

• Over six years of experience in developing and testing web applications.

• Capacity to collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that engineers meet business requirements.

• Ability to mentor engineers in delivering high-quality, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong enthusiasm for working in a collaborative setting with Developers, Product Managers, DevOps Engineers, and QA Engineers.

• Proficiency in various server-side languages such as Go or Python (bonus).

• Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks like React (bonus).

• Knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB (bonus).

• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS (bonus).

• Strong passion for e-commerce, logistics, and/or sustainability (bonus).

• Candidates must have authorization to work in the U.S.
