This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop pages, blocks, and templates within Felix’s bespoke WordPress block theme.
• Convert Figma designs into reusable, tokenized components while ensuring consistency with the design system.
• Contribute to the architecture of the theme, create custom Gutenberg blocks, and develop custom plugins.
• Enhance the editing experience, empowering the Marketing team to build and iterate autonomously.
• Establish experimentation frameworks, analytics and reporting pipelines, content importers, and automated quality assurance tools.
• Design and utilize APIs that link the website with internal services, analytics platforms, and external tools.
• Safeguard performance and SEO by focusing on Core Web Vitals, image and asset delivery, structured data, caching, and technical SEO.
• Implement and uphold GTM, Segment, and GA4 tracking along with A/B tests.
• Collaborate directly with Design, Marketing, SEO, and Growth teams to define and execute projects.
• Conduct code reviews and assist in elevating engineering standards within a small team.
• Over 3 years of experience with modern PHP 8+ and custom WordPress themes and plugins.
• Extensive experience with block themes, the block editor, custom blocks, theme.json, custom post types, and the WordPress data layer.
• Proficient in semantic, accessible HTML.
• Familiarity with CSS at scale, including design systems, design tokens, utility-first patterns, and responsive layouts.
• Strong skills in vanilla JavaScript (ES6+) and Web Components.
• Solid MySQL expertise, including schema design, queries, indexing, and diagnosing performance issues with queries.
• Experience in building APIs with REST, including authentication, versioning, and error management.
• Background in integrating third-party APIs.
• Knowledge of Docker for local development.
• Experience with Vite or a similar modern bundler and npm for the asset pipeline.
• Proficient in a Git-based workflow, including code review and CI/CD processes.
• Experience in delivering pixel-perfect, accessible interfaces based on Figma designs.
• Practical knowledge of Core Web Vitals, asset optimization, caching, structured data, and technical SEO.
• Experience in implementing event tracking and managing or supporting A/B tests.
• Ability to clearly articulate technical trade-offs to non-engineering stakeholders.
