This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of the technical evaluation of an SDN codebase, which includes architectural design, build processes, dependency assessment and management, runtime components, test coverage, security posture, and relationships with upstream open source projects.
• Create and implement secure, maintainable modifications that address vulnerabilities, enhance resilience, and maintain traceability between upstream software, Government-owned code, configurations, and local patches.
• Develop unit, integration, end-to-end, regression, and failure-mode testing protocols.
• Implement AI-driven tools to reinforce and sustain the SDN application codebase.
• Troubleshoot complex behaviors across application, Linux, and network boundaries, such as traffic flows, routing, segmentation, identity, failover, telemetry, and performance metrics.
• Collaborate with platform engineers on container readiness, packaging, CI/CD processes, deployment workflows, and automated security scanning.
• Assist in lab validation, demonstrations, release acceptance, and the transformation of operational findings into lasting fixes and regression tests.
• Generate technical documentation, engage in architecture and code reviews, communicate trade-offs to stakeholders, and mentor fellow engineers.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• Expertise in C++, Python, and Bash scripting.
• Proven experience in owning production or legacy codebases.
• Solid understanding of Linux fundamentals, including services, processes, permissions, logging, package management, and command-line troubleshooting.
• Strong foundation in networking principles, such as TCP/IP, routing, DNS, TLS, segmentation, interfaces, policy enforcement, and traffic analysis.
• Experience in secure software development, including dependency management, vulnerability assessment, patching, code review, and remediation strategies.
• A rigorous approach to testing across unit, integration, end-to-end, and regression testing.
• Familiarity with containers, version control, build automation, CI/CD, registries, observability, and contemporary release practices.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation abilities, including design documents, technical assessments, and runbooks.
• Must possess U.S. citizenship.
