Software Engineer – Platform Metal

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the physical “Metal” environment, ranging from bare metal to Kubernetes.

• Administer cluster networking elements, including load balancing, NAT, DNS, CNIs, cross-cluster communication, routing protocols, and architectural design.

• Manage scheduling and autoscaling processes.

• Maintain Crossplane compositions and Terraform modules for Cloud Service Provider (CSP) resources.

• Oversee versioning and compatibility for Crossplane, Terraform core, and its providers.

• Collaborate with Grafana Cloud application teams to understand their requirements and invest in the necessary capabilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be comfortable working in a remote-first environment.

• Experience with distributed systems is essential.

• Comprehensive software development experience, covering design documentation, developer feedback, and integration testing.

• Proficient in operating code and providing support for operators and developers.

• Datacenter experience is required.

• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.

• Proficient in Go, Python, and Shell programming languages.

• Bonus if you have experience with Cluster-API, Tinkerbell, Talos, and/or Ceph.

• Experience in open-source or community-driven projects is a plus.

• Familiarity with AWS, GCP, and/or Azure, as well as managed Kubernetes services like EKS, GKE, and AKS, is advantageous.

• Experience in operating and managing Kubernetes workloads is a plus.

• Bonus if you have experience with Tanka and Jsonnet.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes scheduling and Karpenter is a bonus.

• Experience with Terraform and/or Crossplane is a bonus.

• Prior experience in Go programming is a bonus.
