Software Engineer – Payment Acceptance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop the stablecoin payment infrastructure that supports merchant checkout, subscriptions, and on-chain settlement.

• Take ownership of the entire feature delivery process for Go backend services and the React/Next.js merchant interface.

• Create gRPC/HTTP APIs, protobuf definitions, database migrations, and TypeScript client integrations.

• Design and enhance the buyer checkout UI, including payment links, embeddable web components, and WalletConnect, wagmi, and viem wallet connection flows.

• Implement robust and fault-tolerant payment workflows utilizing Temporal for on-chain settlement, refunds, and PostgreSQL reconciliation.

• Monitor changes with structured logging, metrics, and Datadog traces.

• Engage in the on-call rotation for deployed services.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, CDP, Base, and Coinbase Business engineering teams to integrate Payment Acceptance into the Coinbase developer platform.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of professional full-stack software engineering experience.

• Hands-on experience with Go in production, including concurrency, gRPC, and testing.

• Production experience with TypeScript/React, covering hooks, suspense, server components, and Next.js.

• Proficiency with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL, including schema design, migrations, query performance, and transactional integrity.

• Experience in designing protobuf/gRPC, REST, and OpenAPI APIs.

• Familiarity with instrumenting production systems using structured observability tools like Datadog or OpenTelemetry.

• Background in building reliable workflow systems such as Temporal, Cadence, or Step Functions, or experience with EVM blockchains, stablecoins, and on-chain payment methodologies.

• Ability to produce clear design documents, pull request descriptions, and runbooks that facilitate cross-team collaboration and operational excellence.

• Responsible utilization of generative AI tools and copilots, ensuring human oversight and following human-in-the-loop practices.
