Software Engineer – Networking, Features

📋 Description

• Contribute to the development of the Tailscale product by engaging in open-source client code and associated backend services, focusing on networking features and optimizations.

• Take full responsibility for the entire product lifecycle, from coding to product ideation and strategic decision-making.

• Collaborate with UX/UI designers and product managers to refine networking features.

• Design, construct, test, and document essential networking software components.

• Implement observability in operational services, participate in incident response, and manage customer support escalations.

• Evaluate and enhance the efficiency, scalability, and stability of networking systems and resources.

• Adopt a security-first approach in the design and execution of networking components.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in applying application-layer networking concepts and distributed components, including proxies, connectors, and overlay routing.

• In-depth understanding of operating system-level networking internals, such as socket programming, routing tables, and packet filtering mechanisms.

• Professional expertise in Go (Golang).

• Experience in designing and maintaining distributed systems.

• Strong grasp of concurrency, covering multithreading, race conditions, memory management, and synchronization techniques.

• Awareness of scalability principles.

• Proficient with relational databases like PostgreSQL and MySQL.

• Capability to write efficient SQL queries.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts.

• Strong collaborative spirit, with the capacity to work independently as well as part of a team.
