This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.
β’ Contribute to the development of the Tailscale product by engaging in open-source client code and associated backend services, focusing on networking features and optimizations.
β’ Assume full responsibility for the product lifecycle, encompassing code writing, product ideation, and strategic decision-making.
β’ Collaborate with UX/UI designers and product managers to enhance networking functionalities.
β’ Design, build, test, and document essential networking software components.
β’ Integrate observability into operational services, participate in incident response, and manage customer support escalations.
β’ Evaluate and enhance the efficiency, scalability, and stability of networking systems and resources.
β’ Employ a security-first approach in the design and implementation of networking solutions.
β’ Demonstrated experience in implementing application-layer networking concepts and distributed components, including proxies, connectors, and overlay routing.
β’ Extensive knowledge of operating system-level networking internals, such as socket programming, routing tables, and packet filtering mechanisms.
β’ Professional experience with Go (Golang).
β’ Experience in designing and maintaining distributed systems.
β’ Strong understanding of concurrency, including multithreading, race conditions, memory management, and synchronization mechanisms.
β’ Awareness of scalability principles.
β’ Proficiency in relational databases like PostgreSQL or MySQL.
β’ Capability to write efficient SQL queries.
β’ Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
β’ Ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear manner.
β’ Strong collaborative spirit with the capability to work independently and as part of a team.
