This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.

📋 Description

• Create and develop scalable, high-performance backend systems and services.

• Take the lead on technical design and architectural decisions for features and components.

• Manage significant services or platform components, ensuring their reliability and performance.

• Facilitate the resolution of complex, cross-system production challenges, including conducting root cause analysis.

• Establish and advocate for engineering best practices, standards, and reusable patterns.

• Mentor and nurture engineers at various levels, providing technical guidance and coaching.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to ensure that technical solutions align with business requirements.

• Contribute to and shape platform architecture and long-term system design.

• Design and develop reusable platform services and shared capabilities that empower multiple teams to leverage a common infrastructure.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 5-8+ years of software engineering experience, demonstrating ownership of systems or services.

• Profound understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architecture.

• In-depth knowledge of API design and integration patterns.

• Strong comprehension of cloud-native architecture and system scalability.

• Solid grasp of performance, reliability, and system design principles.

• Advanced skills in backend engineering (Java, APIs, services).

• Capability to design scalable architectures and services.

• Proficiency in optimizing system performance and reliability.

• Expertise in leading complex debugging efforts and root cause analysis.

• Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and system observability tools.

• Ability to tackle complex, ambiguous technical challenges across systems.

• Skill in anticipating risks and proactively addressing issues.

• Capacity to apply system-level thinking to design and solution development.

• Ability to influence technical direction and engineering standards across teams.

• Strong partnership skills with cross-functional stakeholders.

• Competency in driving consensus on technical solutions and methodologies.

• Proven technical leadership and influence without formal authority.

• Ability to mentor and develop engineers, enhancing team capability and performance.

• Skill in shaping engineering culture and promoting best practices.
