This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Take ownership of customer-facing features and platform capabilities from design and implementation to production rollout and continuous improvement.
• Transform AI prototypes into scalable production solutions.
• Architect, construct, test, and deliver full-stack products encompassing reliable services, APIs, and both web and mobile experiences.
• Integrate large language models (LLMs) into safety workflows and develop agent tooling along with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
• Design interactions between AI agents and the product user interface.
• Design and conduct evaluations and human-in-the-loop feedback loops to enhance insight accuracy, precision, and reliability.
• Utilize AI coding tools and agents to plan, develop, and deploy software.
• Make informed technical trade-offs considering speed, maintainability, scalability, cost, and customer impact.
• Oversee the operational health of production systems, enhancing reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Design, ML, and platform teams.
• Advocate for and incorporate Samsara's cultural principles.
• A minimum of 3 years of professional software engineering experience in building, shipping, and operating reliable customer-facing production systems.
• Strong foundational programming skills in Golang, Java, or Python.
• Proven experience in writing clean, maintainable code and conducting code reviews for peers.
• Experience in developing features or end-to-end solutions across backend services, APIs, and modern web applications.
• Experience or a clear interest in AI-native development, including the integration of LLMs into products, building agentic workflows, or conducting evaluations.
• Proficiency in using data, metrics, logs, tests, or tracing to troubleshoot issues, validate releases, and enhance reliability.
• Capability to independently manage moderately complex projects, estimate timelines, communicate progress, and achieve milestones.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities with engineering and cross-functional partners.
• A growth mindset, solid product intuition, and eagerness to learn new technologies.
• Experience with customer-facing AI or LLM-powered products in production, including agent tooling, RAG, prompt engineering, or conversational and voice experiences.
• Familiarity with LLM evaluation and observability tools such as Langfuse or Eino.
• Experience in optimizing LLM-powered systems for cost and token efficiency.
• Experience leveraging AI coding agents to plan and deliver features.
• Proficiency in Go, GraphQL, TypeScript, React, React Native, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of observability, rollout practices, and monitoring methodologies.
• Experience working in fast-paced, highly collaborative environments and distributed teams.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred for ideal candidates.
• Must reside in the US or Canada.
