Software Engineer, Front End

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Design and develop the frontend application from scratch.

• Create scalable practices for components, routing, state management, performance, accessibility, and maintainability.

• Convert product requirements and UI/UX ideas into responsive, user-friendly, high-quality application features.

• Establish dependable integrations between frontend and backend services.

• Collaborate with API specifications, data structures, payloads, application state, error handling, and asynchronous workflows.

• Engage in discussions regarding frameworks, libraries, application structure, reusable components, testing methodologies, and development standards.

• Work alongside backend developers, AI/technical experts, QA teams, and product leadership.

• Operate within GitHub, AWS/GIT-based workflows, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Utilize AI-assisted development tools for documentation, testing, debugging, code scaffolding, and repetitive engineering tasks.

• Write scripts or utilities to reduce repetitive tasks, manipulate data, support development environments, and enhance workflows.

• Decompose complex requirements into technical tasks and deliver functional software through Agile/Scrum methodologies.

• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, sprint planning, estimation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Establish the frontend architecture and technical foundations for a new application.

• Deliver production-ready features and reusable components.

• Diagnose issues across frontend, API, data, and development workflow layers.

• Become a reliable technical partner to product leadership, backend developers, QA, and engineering team members.

⛳️ Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience, with significant hands-on work in building modern frontend applications.

• Strong expertise in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.

• Experience with modern component-based frontend development.

• Professional experience with React or another contemporary frontend framework.

• Experience in designing and constructing reusable frontend components and responsive application interfaces.

• Hands-on experience in integrating applications with RESTful APIs or similar backend services.

• Experience utilizing Git and GitHub in a collaborative software engineering setting.

• Working knowledge of CI/CD principles and modern software development workflows.

• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including maintainability, testing, debugging, version control, and code review.

• Ability to independently navigate ambiguous technical challenges and articulate implementation choices.

• Experience using AI-assisted software development tools for code generation, testing, documentation, debugging, or expediting development processes.

• Technical discernment to assess the output from AI-assisted tools.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Capability to collaborate effectively in a remote engineering environment.

• Must be able to remain stationary for 50% of the time.

• Must occasionally navigate within the office.

• Must consistently work with computers and other information technology equipment.

• Ability to convey information and ideas in a classroom-style environment and stand at a podium for extended periods.

• React experience is preferred; strong engineers from comparable frameworks will be considered.

• Nice-to-have experience with React, Next.js, TypeScript, GIT/AWS workflows, CI/CD pipelines, cloud-based application delivery, scripting or automation, frontend architecture, component libraries, automated testing, AI/LLM applications, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
