Software Engineer – Backend

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of features, from ideation and project scoping to developing APIs, dashboard experiences, and the underlying services.

• Create dependable distributed systems, encompassing queues and background workers that manage traffic surges, retries, and failures in a predictable manner.

• Enhance APIs and databases by boosting performance, ensuring data integrity, and improving efficiency as usage increases.

• Maintain operational systems with effective monitoring, secure deployments, and active participation in the on-call rotation.

• Collaborate closely with support teams and customers to identify recurring issues and transform them into product enhancements.

• Elevate engineering standards by enhancing tests, tools, and existing systems while also developing new capabilities.

• Work alongside a small engineering team dedicated to developer experience, reliability, and quality.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.

• Extensive experience in building and managing backend services in a production environment.

• Proficient with queues, asynchronous processing, and distributed systems, including handling retries, duplicate events, concurrency, and partial failures.

• Capable of designing systems from the ground up and strategizing their rollout.

• Knowledgeable about cloud infrastructure and service operations, which includes deployments, observability, capacity, and troubleshooting production issues.

• Experienced in designing APIs and relational data models, diagnosing slow queries, and performing safe database modifications.

• Familiar with managing production infrastructure using infrastructure as code, employing tools like Terraform or AWS CDK.

• Comfortable working across the entire technology stack.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Able to consistently work during overlapping hours with the Americas.

• Deep expertise in Node.js, TypeScript, Go, and Postgres.

• Experience in building and operating services on AWS, utilizing serverless or container-based infrastructures.

• Experience with developer tools, public APIs, or email infrastructure is an exceptional qualification.
