This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.
• Take charge of features from inception to completion, including the proposal of ideas, project scoping, and the development of APIs, dashboard interfaces, and the supporting services.
• Create dependable distributed systems, incorporating queues and background processes that can manage traffic surges, retries, and failures in a predictable manner.
• Enhance the scalability of APIs and databases, focusing on performance, data integrity, and efficiency as user demand increases.
• Maintain existing systems with effective monitoring, secure deployments, and active participation in the on-call rotation.
• Collaborate closely with support teams and customers to identify recurring issues and translate them into product enhancements.
• Elevate engineering quality by refining tests, improving tools, and optimizing existing systems while also developing new capabilities.
• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering.
• Significant background in building and managing backend services in a production environment.
• Proficient with queues, asynchronous processing, and distributed systems.
• Capable of designing systems from the ground up and strategizing their implementation.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and service operations, including deployments, observability, capacity planning, and troubleshooting production challenges.
• Experience in designing APIs and relational data structures.
• Skilled in diagnosing slow database queries and executing safe database modifications.
• Proven experience in managing production infrastructure using infrastructure as code, leveraging tools like Terraform or AWS CDK.
• Comfortable working across the technology stack to provide a comprehensive product experience.
• Proficient in written and verbal English communication.
• Ability to consistently work during overlapping hours with the Americas.
• Extensive experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Go, and Postgres.
• Background in building and maintaining services on AWS, utilizing serverless or container-based infrastructures.
• Experience with developer tools, public APIs, or email service infrastructure.
