
Software Engineer, Back-End – Pentest Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, and manage event-driven services that process pentest data in real-time.
• Collaborate with event streaming, stream processing, storage solutions, schema evolution, and replayable processing.
• Tackle ambiguous, high-impact challenges from the design phase to implementation, deployment, and long-term management.
• Transform extensive datasets from individual pentests into a cohesive narrative over time.
• Address host identity issues, including identifying when hosts are identical despite varying IP addresses.
• Adapt batch-oriented logic for enrichment, attack path analysis, host identity correlation, and reporting into designs suitable for streaming.
• Navigate challenges associated with distributed systems and data storage architecture at scale.
• Promote operational excellence through Service Level Objectives (SLOs), instrumentation, alerting, on-call duties, and incident response.
• Carry out design reviews and produce technical documentation.
• Establish clear API contracts and maintain comprehensive decision records.
• Collaborate with platform teams and attack-engineering teams.
• At least 4+ years of experience in software engineering or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or Go, with experience in large-scale codebases.
• Proven experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including schema design, migrations, and query optimization at scale.
• Experience in building and managing services on AWS or a similar cloud platform.
• Familiarity with containers and orchestration tools, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Practical experience with observability tools such as Datadog or OpenTelemetry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with event-driven architectures or streaming platforms such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Flink.
• Skilled in designing distributed systems at scale.
• Experience in migrating systems from batch to streaming or breaking down monolithic applications into services while actively serving customers.
• Knowledge of graph databases like Neo4j, graph data modeling, and SQL.
• Background in cybersecurity, pentesting, or vulnerability management.
• Familiarity with encryption strategies for data-at-rest and data-in-transit, including envelope encryption and KMS.
• A minimum broadband connection of 25Mbps is required.
