This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +15 more states.
• Design, construct, test, and sustain cloud-native microservices, APIs, and event-driven workflows utilizing AWS serverless technologies in TypeScript.
• Develop features that integrate with current WordPress and PHP systems while facilitating the transition to a serverless architecture.
• Create secure and scalable API endpoints, event handlers, synchronization services, and workflows for background processing.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Quality Assurance, and Engineering teams during six-week development cycles.
• Convert product requirements into technical specifications, automated tests, and quantifiable outcomes.
• Oversee and critically evaluate AI-generated code and validate edge cases.
• Diagnose production issues, identify root causes, and implement tests to prevent regressions.
• Engage in code reviews, engineering documentation, infrastructure as code, improvements in observability, and participate in the on-call rotation.
• 3–5+ years of experience in developing production software, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong expertise in building backend services, APIs, and asynchronous applications using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Practical experience with AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS, and other related serverless services.
• Familiarity with PHP and knowledge of WordPress applications, plugins, REST APIs, and data models.
• Understanding of database design, DynamoDB data modeling, and relational databases such as MySQL.
• Experience in writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities.
• Capability to communicate effectively within a remote, collaborative engineering team and work across both technical and non-technical partners.
• Preferred: Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, event-driven architectures, observability tools, React, or AI-assisted development workflows.
• Must reside in CA, CO, DE, FL, IL, IN, MD, MI, MN, NY, NC, OH, PA, RI, TX, VA, WA, or WI.
