This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Become a part of a compact, cross-disciplinary engineering team responsible for a product area from start to finish.
• Investigate various technical solutions via RFCs, proof-of-concepts, and experimental approaches.
• Develop software that is maintainable, observable, and scalable.
• Create capabilities for card issuance, Faster Payments, cross-border transactions, and term deposit accounts.
• Build reconciliation systems that handle millions of FPS transactions.
• Implement double-entry accounting for card expenditures and settlements.
• Design webhook infrastructure featuring message signing and replay protection.
• Establish API versioning and payment approval workflows.
• Take ownership of technical decisions, architecture, and the choice between extending or rebuilding systems.
• Drive feature delivery from defining customer problems to production deployment.
• Influence technical direction through code reviews, implementation patterns, and architectural choices.
• Monitor, debug, and enhance production systems.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers.
• Enhance engineering practices and boost productivity.
• Experience in production environments with Clojure, Elixir, Erlang, Haskell, Scala, or Scheme, or significant personal projects showcasing a strong grasp of functional programming.
• Expertise in the fintech domain, particularly in payments, accounts, ledgers, or compliance.
• Solid understanding of software fundamentals.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, encompassing consistency models, idempotency, and production failure scenarios.
• Experience in product-oriented, collaborative teams alongside PMs and designers.
• Ability to thrive in a startup environment, managing ambiguity, shifting priorities, and evolving requirements.
• Successful completion of background checks, including right-to-work verification, criminal records, credit history, social media, and professional references.
• Eligibility to work in the UK or a need for addressing UK work sponsorship.
