This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Provide global mechanical engineering leadership for Equinix design through the ongoing development of Reference Designs.
β’ Assess new products and engineering methodologies while supporting the Innovation incubation process.
β’ Assist Regional Design teams in the implementation of Reference Design projects.
β’ Offer subject matter expert guidance to the Major Capital Equipment team regarding the procurement of mechanical equipment across the portfolio.
β’ Collaborate with key clients to comprehend evolving design requirements and guide Reference Design configurations.
β’ Oversee design processes in collaboration with Architectural, MEP, and other design partners for data center portfolios.
β’ Create globally standardized tools, techniques, and processes for design management and reporting.
β’ Promote consistency and technical excellence across regional design and delivery methodologies.
β’ Execute master planning, develop project visualizations, initial models, and cost estimates.
β’ Coordinate regional infrastructure, equipment procurement, commercial management, and customer-specific configurations.
β’ Foster relationships with internal technical personnel, external consultants, construction management, commercial management, and regional P&L stakeholders.
β’ Collaborate with Global Operations, Global Design Standards, Procurement, xScale, and Global Account Management teams.
β’ Indirectly supervise engineering staff during Independent Technical Review.
β’ Manage design timelines, budgets, change management, and design costs.
β’ Deliver and review Basis of Design (BODs), REIC submissions, and IFP/IFC design documentation.
β’ Manage Reference Design external consultant teams and customer technical requirements.
β’ Ensure that designs comply with Global Design Standards and address business needs for capacity, density, and functionality.
β’ Take ownership of the Mechanical discipline within the Reference Design and its equipment technical submittal repository.
β’ Utilize design reviews, best practices, project feedback, and vendor input to enhance Reference Designs and standards.
β’ Over 7 years of experience in a Design MEP Firm or within the design team of a Mission Critical Building operator or Subcontractor, or 7+ years as an Architectural lead in a Mission Critical Architectural Design Practice.
β’ Global experience with local mechanical design and construction practices is highly desirable.
β’ Familiarity with electrical codes, regulations, and laws across AMER, EMEA, and APAC regions is ideal.
β’ An advanced degree (Master's) in Mechanical Engineering is preferred; a Bachelor's degree is acceptable if coupled with extensive and demonstrable experience in the role.
β’ A PE, CEng, or local equivalent for Engineering route candidates is desirable but not mandatory.
β’ Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential.
β’ Knowledge of additional languages is strongly preferred.
β’ Experience understanding the design requirements of major clients is highly desirable.
