This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina, +2 more states.
• Develop and sustain software functionalities for a large-scale Windows desktop CAM application.
• Collaborate from specifications provided by Product Management and senior engineers.
• Identify and resolve defects in existing code.
• Repair, enhance, and maintain software components.
• Write clean, thoroughly-tested code that meets team quality standards.
• Engage in code reviews as both an author and a reviewer.
• Learn and apply concepts related to CAM and the manufacturing domain.
• Stay current with modern C++ programming and software development best practices.
• Contribute to technical documentation and internal knowledge bases.
• Consult with senior engineers and management regarding project status, technical inquiries, and implementation strategies.
• 3–5 years of professional software development experience in a production environment.
• Strong proficiency in C and C++; familiarity with modern standards (C++11/14/17) is preferred.
• Experience in reading, debugging, and extending existing codebases.
• Familiarity with Windows desktop application development.
• Working knowledge of debugging tools with the ability to systematically isolate and resolve software defects.
• Understanding of essential data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.
• Experience with version control in a team environment.
• Solid math fundamentals and a willingness to engage with technical or geometric concepts.
• Experience with Win32, MFC, COM, or other Windows application frameworks is preferred.
• Exposure to C# in a mixed-language (C++/managed) application context is preferred.
• Experience or academic background in CAD, CAM, CNC machining, or manufacturing is preferred.
• Familiarity with 3D graphics concepts or APIs such as OpenGL or DirectX is preferred.
• Background or coursework in applied mathematics, linear algebra, or computational geometry is preferred.
• Experience with Perforce or other enterprise version control systems is preferred.
• Exposure to large-project build systems is preferred.
• A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Equivalent practical experience demonstrating the required technical foundation will be considered.
• Candidates must have authorization to work and reside in the United States.
