This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take ownership of the development and continuous enhancement of the game's UI systems and player-centric experiences.
• Design and implement robust, responsive UI functionalities in collaboration with Gameplay, Systems, Design, Art, and QA teams.
• Produce clear, maintainable, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Construct UI for large-scale multiplayer gameplay, encompassing dynamic gameplay states, player information, team communication, objectives, equipment, and real-time systems.
• Debug, profile, and optimize UI features across various target platforms.
• Convert UI/UX designs and visual concepts into refined, functional game features.
• Establish and uphold UI programming standards, patterns, and best practices.
• Create and sustain technical documentation while communicating UI system capabilities, limitations, and constraints.
• Work alongside the programming team to identify technical challenges and devise maintainable solutions.
• Enhance UI tools, workflows, and development practices.
• Recognize opportunities to boost UI usability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in video game programming.
• At least 1 year of professional experience in developing game UI, ideally within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.
• Experience with at least 1 shipped game in a UI Programmer role.
• Strong comprehension of game UI/UX principles and a genuine passion for creating intuitive player experiences.
• Proven experience in taking UI features from concept to implementation, including iteration, debugging, and final polishing.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging abilities, with the capacity to independently investigate complex technical issues.
• Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective teamwork with programmers, designers, artists, and QA personnel.
• A high level of self-motivation, ownership, and initiative.
• Comfortable researching unfamiliar technologies and systems.
• Strong proficiency in C++.
• Proficient in Unreal Engine 5.
• Familiar with Common UI, Lyra, Enhanced Input.
• Experience working on live service games post-launch.
• 6.5 weeks of paid vacation.
