Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Execute, evaluate, and deploy small to medium-scale features from start to finish within the Django monolith and its related services.

• Take ownership of a module or component within larger projects managed by senior and staff engineers.

• Contribute to and uphold the TypeScript, Bun, and Hono document microservice, supported by PostgreSQL and S3-compatible storage on Kubernetes.

• Enhance the admin portal and internal tools for scheduling, eligibility debugging, and billing processes.

• Work collaboratively with senior engineers to define requirements and highlight technical risks.

• Troubleshoot and permanently resolve production issues.

• Participate in the production support rotation and prioritize issues based on patient impact.

• Make precise, reviewed corrections to production data in HIPAA-compliant systems.

• Identify and tackle technical debt.

• Conduct code reviews for teammates.

• Create documentation and runbooks.

• Utilize AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude Code in daily engineering tasks.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of professional software engineering experience.

• Practical experience with Python and Django, including Django REST Framework APIs and the Django ORM.

• Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL and/or MySQL), including advanced SQL.

• Strong testing practices and experience with automated testing frameworks and continuous integration.

• Proven debugging abilities, from vague reports to identifiable causes.

• Excellent written communication skills for documentation, runbooks, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Willingness to learn TypeScript and modern JavaScript runtime tools in the workplace.

• Competence with AI development tools and the discernment to validate their outputs.

• Experience in independently delivering features when provided with clear objectives.

• Bonus qualifications include knowledge of TypeScript, Bun, Hono, AWS, S3, Secrets Manager, IAM, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Argo Rollouts, Terraform, GitHub Actions, OpenTelemetry, HIPAA/regulated environments, healthcare billing, HL7, FHIR, Redis, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ, Celery, Kafka, and clinical integrations.
