Software Development Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +19 more locations.

📋 Description

• Oversee a team of software developers, which includes responsibilities for hiring, conducting performance reviews, and facilitating career development.

• Provide mentorship and coaching to team members, promoting an environment of continuous improvement and learning.

• Establish and manage a QA function to enhance the quality and reliability of software.

• Advocate for best practices through code reviews, pair programming, and ongoing education.

• Propel the technical vision and create an architectural roadmap for the product suite.

• Engage in development activities by writing, reviewing, and troubleshooting code in Java, Spring, JavaScript, Vue.js, and SQL.

• Lead initiatives aimed at ensuring quality, scalability, and maintainability.

• Direct engineering practices, code standards, and design principles.

• Identify and implement improvements in UI/UX.

• Develop and enhance processes for source control, deployment, CI/CD, and environment management.

• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure developers have the necessary hardware, software, and tools.

• Act as the main escalation point for customer-related issues from the support team.

• Investigate issues and communicate with customers as required.

• Partner with Product Management to convert requirements into development plans and timelines.

• Update internal stakeholders and customers on project status, risks, and developments.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline; or equivalent professional experience.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development.

• At least 2 years of experience in a managerial or leadership position.

• Proficient hands-on experience with Java.

• Experience with the Spring Framework.

• Familiarity with Vue.js or a similar JavaScript framework.

• Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.

• Background in building and maintaining web-deployed or SaaS applications.

• Knowledge of agile methodologies, CI/CD, version control (Git), and DevOps practices.

• Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities.

• Excellent collaborative communication skills and a readiness to work across functions.

• Preferred: Knowledge of financial markets, exchanges, market data, and market data vendor platforms.

• Preferred: Experience in a fast-paced software development environment.

• Preferred: Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or Azure.

• Preferred: Experience in enhancing QA or test automation processes.
