Software Architect

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design Cloud-Native architecture for the Royal Canadian Navy Cloud component systems and the Synthetic Training Hub.

• Ensure systems are deployed as collaborative, self-sufficient units on either public or private Cloud-Native infrastructure.

• Identify or suggest Horizon or Synthetic Training Hub open-source or commercial components that are available as containers or can be containerized.

• Create architectural component design diagrams, network traffic diagrams, firewall rulesets, swim-lane diagrams, and tables for security-control implementation.

• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployments for Navy organizational infrastructure that supports Cloud and Synthetic Training Hub pipelines.

• Create Cloud-Native IaC deployments that can be scaled, optimized for cost, and rapidly redeployed.

• Build TLA components from source when necessary to facilitate container creation.

• Develop TLA component containers for deployments on Horizon Kubernetes.

• Create containers for the Synthetic Training Hub to support collaborative multi-user modeling, simulation scenarios, and related user-experience infrastructure.

• Assist in the development of the Royal Canadian Navy Cloud-Native training environment.

• Prioritize and manage issues as the RCN evolves and shifts towards suitable solutions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from a Canadian University or one recognized by CICIC, or a recognized College Technical Diploma in Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics.

• Over 10 years of progressive experience as a Software Developer.

• At least 4 years of recent experience as a Software Architect involved in designing, developing, and deploying software systems.

• Experience in deriving functional requirements for Software Architecture systems.

• Proven experience in designing complex software systems, including both software and IT architecture.

• Experience in developing complex software systems, covering software and IT architecture.

• Familiarity with Microsoft and Unix/Linux operating system environments.

• Experience in integrating and testing software within a Software Architecture system.

• Proficiency in generating, updating, and maintaining software design documentation.

• Knowledge in determining and implementing IT infrastructure.

• Experience in a Cloud Native environment is highly preferred.

• Must currently possess or be eligible to obtain and sustain a Secret (Level II) Canadian Federal Government Security clearance.

• Must obtain and maintain VCR and Controlled Goods clearances.

• Consultants are required to hold Controlled Goods clearance and Insurance.
