This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.
• Collaborate within the Sitework discipline as a vital team member aiding in design development for primarily industrial clients throughout the nation and in North and Central America.
• Plan and implement infrastructure projects for industrial, site development, ports/multimodal freight, manufacturing, Power, and Infrastructure sectors.
• Prepare and evaluate intricate design calculations.
• Create and assess construction documents for roads, rail, utilities, highways, culverts, storm sewers, rail grade crossings, signage, pavement markings, and traffic control plans.
• Develop civil and site designs, including grading, stormwater management, rail and roadway systems, utilities, and coordination with agencies and railroads.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and CADD/Technician personnel.
• Manage and nurture junior staff development.
• Collaborate with project managers to establish scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
• Work alongside clients to ensure the delivery of cost-effective and constructible projects.
• Complete design tasks punctually and within budget constraints.
• Offer technical support to various departments within Hanson.
• Review contractor submissions and monitor construction on-site for adherence to plans and specifications.
• Engage in discussions regarding current and upcoming projects with clients.
• Contribute to proposal development efforts.
• Coordinate with project managers and other disciplines to manage project backlog, staffing needs, and integrated project delivery.
• A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline is mandatory.
• A minimum of 5 years of general civil engineering experience, focusing on site development.
• Professional Engineer license in the state of the assigned office or the ability to reciprocate from another state within a 6-month timeframe.
• Experience in railway and/or roadway engineering is advantageous.
• Additional licensure as a Professional Engineer in Texas and/or Louisiana or in a Canadian province will be considered a plus.
• Capability to convert scope requirements into clear, concise deliverables that meet client, budget, and schedule expectations.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with internal and external agencies and clients.
• Ability to mentor and develop junior technical personnel.
• Proficiency in oral communication and technical writing.
• Experience with AutoCAD/Civil3D software, including surface modeling, corridors, and pipe networks.
• Must be capable of collaborating remotely with colleagues in different offices.
• Willingness to accept travel assignments out of town and work overtime to fulfill project requirements.
• Involvement in and/or leadership roles within relevant technical or professional societies is highly favored.
